The reception and residence building of the historic Elm Court dates back to May 9th 1885 when architects Gordon & Gordon called tenders to construct a two storey building for Mr James Higgins, coach builder. On May 16th 1885 Neill & Jackson were contracted to commence construction. Later that year seventy couples attended a social ball in the upper room to celebrate the completion of the bew building. Mr James Higgins, a master in his trade, manufactured and repaired coaches including the Cobb & Co line.Accession number
